Former Furman standout wide receiver Adam Mims has signed a two-year contract with the Montreal Alouettes, the club announced today.
A consensus All-Southern Conference selection in 2010, Mims caught 55 passes for 724 yards and five touchdowns to finish his career as Furman’s all-time leader in receptions (198) and receiving yards (2,433). His 13 touchdown receptions ranks fifth in school history. The Birmingham, Ala., native caught a career high 10 passes for 202 yards against 13th-ranked South Carolina in 2010.
Following graduation he signed as a free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers and attended their training camp this past summer.
The addition of Mims will give Montreal two Paladin wide receivers on its roster. He will join veteran Brian Bratton ‘05, who has starred with the Alouettes over the past five seasons, catching 235 passes for 2,658 yards and 19 touchdowns while helping Montreal to back-to-back CFL Grey Cup Championships in 2009 & ‘10.
Furman now counts five former players in professional football, including wide receiver Brian Bratton ‘05 (Montreal Alouettes, CFL), fullback Jerome Felton ‘’08 (Indianapolis Colts, NFL), offensive tackle Joel Bell (Las Vegas Locomotives, UFL), cornerback William Middleton ‘09 (Jacksonville Jaguars, NFL), and Adam Mims (Montreal Alouettes, CFL).
