The Weekend of Champions, which for many years has been the culmination of the high school football season in South Carolina with games at either USC or Clemson, may not be around in 2012.
Decisions on the state championship game locations for all classes will be determined at meetings in March. A high school football source said Wednesday that all four classes could go their separate ways, meaning there would be no one facility hosting a majority of the games.
The source said one plan calls for the 4A teams to play their two championship games at Spring Valley High School with the 3A championship game to be played the same weekend at Benedict College.
The 2A and 1A championship games, and there are two for each class, would be played during the Thanksgiving weekend at Benedict.
Last season the 1A games were played at Benedict the Friday at Thanksgiving. The 2A games were played the following Friday at Benedict, and the 3A and 4A games were played at Clemson the day after that.
