RB Mike Davis of Stone Mountain, GA is sitting on his decision until Signing Day. Davis revealed yesterday he’s made the decision. According to a source, Davis eliminated Clemson, Tennessee, Florida State and Miami and made his choice between USC and Georgia. The source said Davis looked hard at the depth charts of both in making his decision. Davis has never visited USC and has spent just a short time on one unofficial visit at Georgia. He will take an official visit to USC January 13th and Georgia on the 20th. “The other one (he didn’t pick) will have to blow him away (for him to change his mind),” the source said. Davis also is scheduled to visit Clemson January 27th but that trip is not definite since his decision came down to the other two.
USC remains in the hunt for DB Eli Shumate of Ramsey, NJ who plans to announce his decision at the Army All American Game next week. Shumate has taken official visits to USC, Rutgers and Notre Dame. USC was a leader for him after his visit but according to reports Notre Dame may now be his favorite. The Irish have recruited him as a running back. However, Notre Dame has two running backs already committed. And Rutgers also remains a factor. USC recruiter GA Mangus talked with Shumate last week and Shumate expects to talk to him again this week.
