USC coach Steve Spurrier capped a busy travel day Wednesday by making in home visits with two of his top targets in Florida. Spurrier began his day with a visit to Goose Creek High School. He then flew to Florida where he met up with assistant GA Mangus for in home visits with DB Jordan Diggs and DE Tyriq McCord. Spurrier was the last of the head coaches recruiting Diggs to make an in home visit. Earlier he was visited by Derek Dooley of Tennessee, Mark Dantonio of Michigan State, James Franklin of Vanderbilt and Bo Pelini of Nebraska. Diggs plans to narrow his list to a final three soon and will make his commitment public during the Army All American game. McCord, like Diggs, has had USC at the top of his list. He met with Miami coach Al Golden earlier in the week and will see Southern Cal coach Lane Kiffen Thursday. McCord has taken official visits to USC and Miami and will visit Georgia this weekend. He is scheduled to visit Southern Cal January 14th, but he will make a commitment announcement at the Army Game. He’s also looking at TCU and Florida for visits.
USC head coach Steve Spurrier still has an in home visit to take with the family of DE Jonathan Bullard of Shelby, NC. Bullard is at Shrine Bowl practice this week and won’t be able to attend. That visit may take place Thursday though final plans are still being finalized.
RB Mike Davis of Stone Mountain, GA is making an unofficial visit to Georgia today to watch the Bulldog’s bowl practice. USC and Clemson are two of his other favorites. Davis plans to reduce his list before Christmas saying he’s tiring of the recruiting process.
USC has turned up its interest in ATH Chris Moody of McDonough, GA after losing two defensive backs from the program. Moody played quarterback at Henry County High School but is being recruited as a safety and cornerback. Moody said USC recruiter Lorenzo Ward was by his school a couple of weeks ago to check on him. “He also talked to my dad,” Moody said. Moody made an unofficial visit to USC for the Auburn game. “The place is great,” he said. “They have some great cornerbacks and safeties. They like me as a cornerback.” Moody also has offers from Vanderbilt, Indiana, Central Florida and South Florida. He is scheduled for official visits to Central Florida January 13th, Vanderbilt January 20th, and he’d like to visit USC January 27th. Moody does not have a favorite at this point. He’s been chosen for two high school all star games in Georgia.
OL Joey O’Connor of Windsor, CO apparently won’t make a visit to USC. He has been to Penn State and has scheduled Ohio State for January 21st. He’s also planning visits to Boise State, Cal and Iowa at this point.
