DE Ty McCord of Tampa will visit Florida Saturday unofficially for the Florida State game. McCord made an official visit to USC last weekend with his family. That was his first official visit which he has termed as “great.” McCord is also planning to take an official visit to Southern Cal. He’s also looking at Miami and Georgia for official visits. McCord has said USC is at the top of his list. “It’s because of the coaching relationship, and I have a chance for early playing time,” McCord said. Also, his cousin if USC defensive lineman Aldrick Fordham.
Among the many prospects expected to visit USC Saturday for the Clemson game are two of the top quarterback prospects on the Gamecocks’ board for 2013, Eddie Prinz of Marietta, GA and Boeing Brown of Brookfield, CT. Prinz committed in September to SMU but is still looking at other schools. Clemson also has shown interest in him. Brown also is drawing interest from Penn State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Illinois, Northwestern, Connecticut, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss. Neither player has been offered by the Gamecocks who also are interested in QB Kevin Olsen of Wayne Hills, NJ. He is the brother of Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen. USC quarterbacks coach and recruiter GA Mangus is scheduled to scout Olsen next week
Class of 2013 OL Joey Bloomfield (6-6 305) of Louisville is hearing from Clemson, Louisville, Kentucky, Tennessee, Stanford and Boston College. Bloomfield is showing interest in the Tigers after attending the Florida State game at Death Valley earlier this season. “It’s ridiculous,” Bloomfield said. “It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. The intensity, the atmosphere, the fans…it was really exciting.” Other schools the lineman has visited for games include Tennessee, Louisville, Kentucky, Indiana and Purdue. “They were all really great,” he said. Bloomfield plans to return to Clemson for a bowl practice in December. “I really like their coaches,” he said. “I maintain regular contact with coach (Robbie) Caldwell.” Bloomfield does not have any favorites.
