Clemson star wide receiver Sammy Watkins will return this weekend for the Tigers game at USC. Watkins sat out last week’s loss at N.C. State with a sore AC joint.
“I feel fine,” Watkins said Tuesday. “I am getting a lot of treatment and getting better every day so I can get better as quickly as possible. I have made a lot of progress and think I will be close to 100 percent by game time. With the game being at 7:45 PM instead of a noon game, it should help just like I had another day.”
Watkins is looking forward to his first matchup in the state rivalry.
“I am excited to play South Carolina because I know about the rivalry. It is a nationally televised game against a top 15 team. I am most excited to just get back on the field and help this team.”
It also looks good for offensive lineman Philip Price to return this week. Price injured his knee during the Wake Forest game two weeks ago. He hopes to be back on the field Saturday.
“It was a good day of practice and I feel good,” Price said. “I did all the physical drills I need to do to prepare for a game. I did everything and felt good at the end of practice so that gives me confidence. I did all the pass set drills and all the run blocking drills. I really feel I will be ready to play on Saturday.”
