The Gamecocks get back into the game with an 80 yard, 13 play drive capped by Connor Shaw’s one yard sneak for a touchdown. Shaw had a 23 yard pass to Kenny Miles that carried to the Arkansas one, and he also ran for 12 yards down to the one, to set up the touchdown. With 10:30 to play, Arkansas leads 30-28.
The Razorbacks answered quickly. Wilson hit Chris Gragg on a couple of big gainers over the middle, Dennis Johnson had a big run up the middle, and Ronnie Wingo capped the drive with a four yard touchdown run. It took all of 2:21 seconds for the Razorbacks to go the 63 yards for the touchdown and a 37-28 lead with 8:09 left.
On the first play of USC’s next possession, Shaw was intercepted by Alonzo Highsmith at the USC 20. He returned the ball to the 11, but the Gamecocks stopped the Razorbacks on downs at the four.
Things got no better for the Gamecocks on their next possession. A 25 yard pass to Alshon Jeffery was wiped out by a holding call on Rokavious Watkins. And then Shaw was sacked and fumbled, and Arkansas recovered at the one. Broderick Green later scored from a yard out to make it 44-28 with 4:07 left.
