The USC basketball team used a second half run to take down Division II Kentucky Wesleyan 69-59 in a exhibition game Thursday night at Colonial Life Arena. Freshman Anthony Gill led the Gamecocks with 14 points and six rebounds. RJ Slawson added 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds coming off the bench.
USC coach Darrin Horn seemed satisfied with his team’s performance in its lone exhibition matchup. He was pleased with Gill and fellow freshman Damien Leonard’s debut. Lenoard earned the start and made three of his nine attempts from beyond the arch to finish with nine points.
USC opens the regular season next Friday night in Columbia against Western Carolina. That game tips off at 7:00.
