Former University of South Carolina running back Brandon Bennett has been selected as the Gamecocks’ representative in the 2011 SEC Football Legends Class.
Bennett finished his Gamecock career as the second-leading rusher in school history, trailing only Heisman winner George Rogers. Bennett rushed for 3,055 yards in his career at South Carolina.
Bennett holds the single-game rushing record at Carolina with his 278-yard effort against East Tennessee State in 1991. He also hold the school record for most career catches by a running back, with 111 career receptions.
The former Riverside High standout played for the Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers during his NFL career. He became a member of the USC’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.
The 2011 SEC Legends Class will be honored during the weekend of the SEC Championship in Atlanta.
