2010-2011 Record: 23-11 (9-7) Round of 64
Vanderbilt returns nearly all of last year’s team and hopes for a longer stay in the NCAA tournament this season. The Commodores’ backcourt is very experienced, with three starters that averaged over thirty minutes per game last year. While the backcourt should be solid, there are questions in the post. Festus Ezeli will miss the first six games of the season, so the ‘Dores will need someone to step in and fill his shoes during the early portion of the schedule. Head coach Kevin Stallings has one of the deepest squads in the country, but Vanderbilt has to be able to win close games. The Commodores were 1-5 in games that were decided by three or fewer points last year. Vanderbilt must find a way to pull out tight games if the ‘Dores want to make some noise in the SEC.
