2010-2011 Record: 14-16 (5-11)
The Gamecocks started 3-0 in the conference last season, and then finished the year 2-11. The graduation of Sam Muldrow, transfer of Ramon Galloway, and decision by Bruce Ellington to finish football season before returning to the hardwood mean the Gamecocks may struggle out of the gate. Head coach Darrin Horn needs an immediate impact from his incoming freshmen, especially Damien Leonard. South Carolina was the worst-shooting team in the SEC last year, shooting just over 37% from the field. Carolina has not made an NCAA Tournament appearance since 2004, and with the Gamecocks having only ten scholarship players on the roster, expectations are not high in Columbia. Horn’s seat is likely to get even hotter if the team does not give fans a reason to be optimistic about the future of the program.
