2010-2011 Record: 17-14 (9-7)
Mississippi State is hoping that this season is not quite as eventful as last year. Dee Bost and Renardo Sidney missed the beginning of the season due to suspensions, Sidney was suspended again after a brawl in Hawaii, and Ravern Johnson was disciplined for Twitter comments. The Bulldogs should have far less to endure this season, and Rick Stansbury’s squad has the potential to end its two-year NCAA Tournament drought. Bost has a wealth of experience at the point and incomer Deville Smith should see plenty of minutes. Sidney was inconsistent in his sophomore year, but should be improved this season. The Bulldogs were the worst defense in the SEC last season and will have to find a way to stop opponents if they play deep into March. Mississippi State has a chance to erase last year’s struggles and make a run in the postseason.
