DL Jonathan Bullard of Shelby, NC will take his official visit to Nebraska as planned this weekend. He had given some thought to not going this weekend because of the early kickoff time, but his coach Mark Barnes said Thursday the trip is still on. Barnes was unsure of any other official visits Bullard plans to take though Bullard has mentioned Florida for one in the past. USC and Clemson are two other schools on Bullard’s list and they remain factors. “Those are two of the teams he’s still strongly considering,” Barnes said. Tennessee rounds out Bullard’s final five. “I think he’s starting to wind it down,” Barnes said adding that Bullard has received his test score freeing him to take his official visits.
Class of 2013 ATH Jadar Johnson (6-1 180) of Orangeburg-Wilkinson has USC, Clemson, Alabama, Florida State, Vanderbilt and Georgia showing interest in him. “I would say USC, Alabama and Vanderbilt are showing the most interest,” Johnson said. “Some schools are looking at me as an athlete and some are looking at me as a cornerback.” Johnson attended the USC-Kentucky game and is heading to Nashville when the Commodores host the Wildcats on November 12th. “I like USC a lot,” he said. “It’s a great environment and the people are really nice.” Johnson camped at Clemson this summer and also has interest in the Tigers. “It’s a really nice place there and I love the coaches,” he said. More visits are in his future to both programs. Johnson plays quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back for his school and has compiled 575 receiving yards, seven total touchdowns and two interceptions. He does not have a favorite.
DL Christian Brown (6-3 302) of Bridgeton, NJ received some interest from Clemson before he moved from South Florida to New Jersey and would like to hear from them again. “Tony Elliot talked to me at my old school but that’s the last time I heard from them,” Brown said. “I never got a chance to go there (Clemson) and visit but I would like to if they’re still interested.” Brown has offers from West Virginia, Illinois, Duke, NC State, South Florida, UCF, Kentucky, Minnesota, UAB and Iowa State among others. He will take his official visit to Illinois on December 9th and West Virginia two weeks later. “I want to take all five visits but I haven’t made up my mind on the others,” he added. Brown has 29 tackles, three sacks and a safety on the season. He does not have a leader.
WR Kwinton Smith (6-5 195) of Dillon committed to USC earlier this year during a three-day stretch where WR Shaq Roland and WR Jody Fuller committed as well. Smith has not taken any other visits since the decision. “I’ve pretty much been going to Columbia every weekend,” Smith said. Smith confirmed that his commitment to the Gamecocks is very strong but he will take other visits. “I may take one or two visits during the season,” he said. “I’m thinking about going to Florida next weekend. You never know what could happen.” Smith was asked if North Carolina is another school he is considering visiting and responded it was not. “I haven’t been really talking to UNC so I don’t think I would go there,” he said. He did not name any other potential visits and remains strongly committed to USC.
