Clemson is trying to keep its eye on the prize this week as they prepare for Georgia Tech Saturday night in Atlanta. Sporting an 8-0 record and a fifth place spot in the BCS standings the team knows it cannot afford any slip ups if they want to stay in the national championship picture.
Offensive lineman Dalton Freeman says the team is not looking past Georgia Tech. He said the mentality is to treat every game like it’s the Super Bowl and not get caught up in the BCS hype.
Tight end Dwayne Allen is nursing a right big toe injury and was wearing a walking boot Tuesday. He said the injury happened a few weeks ago in the Boston College game. He expects to be ready to go Saturday night against Georgia Tech. As for his take on the BCS hype surrounding the Tigers, Allen said it’s impossible to ignore where the team stands nationally. He said the key is to channel it and use it as motivation.
Defensive coordinator Kevin Steele’s job this week is to slow down and stop the Georgia Tech triple option attack. The Yellow Jackets have struggled to put points on the board the past couple of weeks but Steele knows they are still a dangerous unit.
Clemson and Georgia Tech will play at 8:00 Saturday night in Atlanta.
