2010-2011 Record: 29-8 (14-2) Elite 8
The reigning ACC regular season champs enter the year with national title aspirations. That’s understandable, after not a single Tar Heel from last year’s Elite Eight squad declared for the NBA Draft. Head coach Roy Williams will have Kendall Marshall running his up-tempo offense. Marshall took over after the benching of Larry Drew II last season, and led the Heels to a conference title. Meanwhile, Harrison Barnes returns to Chapel Hill after many expected him to be a lottery pick following his freshman season. North Carolina has all five starters back and is clearly a favorite to bring home the hardware this season. Williams will have to make sure his players stay focused on the current season and not their potential pro careers. Tar Heel fans are confident their two-time national championship winning coach can bring home a third.
