DB Rhaheim Ledbetter of Boiling Springs, NC announced a commitment to Florida Friday. Ledbetter narrowed his choices to Florida and USC. He also considered offers from Alabama, Clemson and Miami. Ledbetter’s decision could lead to the Gators landing a double punch from his school. He and his teammate, DE Jonathan Bullard, have said they want to play for the same school.
OL DJ Humphries of Charlotte, NC revealed on his Twitter page Thursday night that he will make his college announcement August 5th at his school. Humphries is down to USC, Clemson, Florida, Tennessee and Auburn. He has visited each of his finalists and is not indicating a leader at this point.
OL Bryce Kennedy (6-3 285) of Southern Pines, NC will visit USC in the near future but remains unclear on the date. He is waiting on his coach to make that decision. “My coach is going to take me soon,” he said. “I know we’ll go pretty soon but I don’t know exactly when that will be.” It will be his third trip to the Columbia campus. “I went once on an unofficial visit and then I went once by myself to look around,” Kennedy said. Though he does not have any favorites, USC remains of high interest for the lineman. “Like I’ve said, they were the first to offer me and they will always be one of my top schools,” he said. “Now that I’ve visited other schools, they’re all about equal.” Kennedy visited NC State and Duke this summer. He wants to visit Stanford and North Carolina along with the Gamecocks. The schools showing the most interest are USC, Duke, Wake Forest, NC State, UNC and East Carolina. Each have offered. His other offers are from Temple, Western Kentucky, Florida International and Stanford.
Many of the state’s top prospects will be at USC’s Williams-Brice Stadium Sunday for the annual High School Sports Report Media Day. Hanahan WR Chris Brown will be among them. And Williams-Brice Stadium could be his future home. Brown has a top four right now of USC, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Cincinnati in no particular order. Brown camped at USC earlier this summer. Next week he plans to attend camp either at USC or Florida. Clemson also has shown interest but has not yet offered. Brown said he has no timetable for a decision. “Whenever it feels really right,” he said is when he’ll make a decision. Brown also plays safety and returns kicks, and he said USC considers him as an athlete telling him “I can pick whichever position I want.” He does not have a leader.
DE Jonathan Bullard (6-4 245) of Shelby, NC visited Clemson last weekend. “It went really well,” Bullard said. “I spent the whole day with coach (Jeff) Scott and coach (Kevin) Steele. They showed me and my mom around. We learned a lot about the academics there. I saw what I needed to see.” Bullard added that Clemson is a school that he is interested in. He will visit USC July 22nd for the Gamecocks showcase camp. After his trip to USC, he will visit Florida and Alabama. “I’ll go to those schools later in the summer but I’m not sure when,” he said. This will be his third trip to Columbia, his second to Gainesville and his first to Tuscaloosa. Bullard does not have a timeline for a commitment nor does he have a leader. The previous schools mentioned have offered. His other offers include North Carolina, NC State, Tennessee, Auburn, Nebraska and Vanderbilt.
