Virginia lived up to its reputation for outstanding pitching Sunday in the College World Series. The Cavaliers kept Cal off the scoreboard until the 9th inning in a 4-1 victory.
Danny Hultzen allowed just three hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out six and walked three. Hultzen lowered his ERA to 1.41. Tyler Wilson and Branden Kline finished up out of the bullpen as Virginia improved to 55-10.
The Cavaliers scored two runs in the seventh and two in the eighth, more than enough for their outstanding pitching to work with. The Cavaliers move into the winners bracket of Bracket Two and will face either USC or Texas A&M Tuesday night at 7:00.
