Clemson tangles with Sacred Heart tomorrow night in the opening round of the regional at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Tigers are 41-18 and is ranked as high as #12 nationally. The Tigers were 17-13 in the ACC this season and 2-1 in last week’s tournament. They are 27-6 in their last 33 games.
Sophomore righthander Scott Firth will go to the mound for the Tigers Friday night. He’s 6-2 with a 3.40 ERA. He’s made 31 total appearances and 10 starts this season.
The Tigers are led offensively by ACC Player of the Year and first team All American shortstop Brad Miller. He’s batting .419 with 5 home runs and 46 RBIs. He’s also stolen 22 bases. As a team the Tigers have swiped 101 bases.
Clemson coach Jack Leggett has the Tigers in the NCAA Tournament for the 17th time in 18 years. He’s taken the team to the College World Series six teams. Earlier in the season he won his 800th game with the Tigers.
