Highly successful Berkely High football coach Jerry Brown has resigned from that position to take over as the athletic director at Fairfield Central in his hometown of Winnsboro. He will not coach football for the Griffins.
Brown won 237 games and lost 106 in his career that also included stops at Fairfield Central and Spring Valley. He had coached at Berkeley since 1993. Brown won four state championships in his career.
Brown is the second veteran coach in the state to retire from head coaching duties in recent weeks. Last month Reed Charpia retired as head coach at Woodland to become an assistant for his son Rusty at Brookland-Cayce.
