WR Quinshad Davis (6-3 185) of Gaffney has offers from Clemson, USC, and NC State. He is hearing from Florida State, LSU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Southern Cal among others. Davis will take a trip to Clemson this weekend and was at USC for the Kentucky basketball game. He says he will make more trips to each school. “I will go to a spring practice at Clemson and South Carolina,” he said. “I haven’t decided which spring game I will go to.” Davis says he does not have a favorite but as for Clemson and USC, “I’ve got a little bit of interest in both of them,” he said. Davis caught 95 passes for 1486 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior.
Tuesday night proved to be highly productive for Dorman OL Patrick Destefano. He landed offers from Penn State, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech. Earlier Tuesday Destefano picked up offers from Georgia and Florida. “This day truly was a blessing,” Destefano said. Those offers join earlier ones from Clemson, USC, Stanford, Tennessee, North Carolina, NC State, Northwestern, Arkansas, Maryland, Duke, Wake Forest, Florida State, Notre Dame and Virginia. Destefano has been to Clemson and USC and will take visits to Tennessee, Notre Dame and Florida this month. Destefano said he’s trying to work out his schedule so he can attend Clemson’s junior day Saturday. He’ll know for sure about that by Thursday. Destefano is not claiming favorites.
DE Tyler Knox (6-4 225) of Myrtle Beach is the next major prospect to come out of the Seahawk program. Knox has picked up offers in recent days from Kentucky, Central Florida and Memphis. He’s also drawn interest from USC, Clemson, East Carolina, Virginia Tech, Tennessee and NC State. Last season Knox had 52 tackles and 12 sacks.
The first recruiting class for Gray Military Academy in West Columbia has grown by four. Head coach Todd Helms has added QB Zach Blair and OL CJ Pulley of Byrnes, ATH Dwayne Duckette of Spring Valley and DB Trey Young of TL Hanna. GMA is a new prep school team which will play its first season in 2011.
