South Carolina junior outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. Coastal Carolina junior pitcher Anthony Meo Wednesday were named to the first team of the 2011 Preseason NCBWA All-America team.
Bradley was the 2010 College World Series Most Outstanding Player and the Gamecocks’ leading hitter this past season with a .368 batting average (89-for-242) with 13 HR and 60 RBI. He also had a .473 on-base percentage and a .587 slugging percentage for the season.
Meo helped Coastal advance to a Super Regional against USC. Last season he was 13-3 with a 2.91 ERA. He struck out 94 in 96 innings.
Clemson outfielder Jeff Schaus and USC pitcher Matt Price were named to the second team. In 2010, Schaus was a Second-Team All-ACC selection after hitting .320 with 15 homers, 14 doubles, two triples, and 87 RBIs in 70 games. His 87 RBIs tied for second-most in Clemson history and were fourth-most in the nation, including most in the ACC (next closest had 78), in 2010.
Price went 5-1 out of the bullpen last year with a 2.26 ERA as well as 10 saves. He struck out 83 batters in 55.2 innings, finishing with a 13.41 average of strikeouts per nine innings, a school record at Carolina.
Wofford catcher Matt Doyle was chosen for the third team. Last season he batted .377 with 16 home runs and 75 RBI.
