Here’s the fourth quarter scoring recap and highlights of the SEC Championship Game between USC and Auburn at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
- Cam Newton capped his astonishing day by throwing his fifth touchdown pass early in the quarter. He hit Emory Blake with a 7 yard scoring pass finishing off a 91 yard, 13 play drive. On the day, Newton passed for 335 yards and 4 touchdowns and rushed for 73 yards and 2 scores. The six touchdowns he accounted for ties the record set by Danny Wuerffel in 1996. With 11:14 to play, Auburn leads 49-14.
- Connor Shaw replaced Stephen Garcia at quarterback for USC in the quarter and led the Gamecocks to a field goal on his first drive. Spencer Lanning drove it thru the uprights from 33 yards. With 7:48 to play, Auburn leads 49-17.
- Newton comes out for a cameo snap and then leaves to the roar of the Auburn faithful. His departure didn’t slow down the Auburn offense. The Tigers drive it for another touchdown, a Mario Fannin 6 yard run. With 2:22 to play, Auburn leads 56-17.
