The Clemson baseball team announced a grueling schedule for 2011 highlighted by 24 games against 2010 NCAA tournament teams. The Tigers will host 32 games at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, while also playing 4 games at Fluor Field in Greenville.
Clemson will play a 3 game series at 3 different locations during the first weekend of March against rival and defending national champion USC.
The first pitch of 2011 is scheduled for February 18 against Eastern Michigan at Doug Kingsmore. This will be the first meeting between these two schools since 1976.
The real test of 2011 will start Friday, March 4 when the Tigers travel to Columbia to play USC. The two teams will play Saturday at Fluor Field in Greenville, followed by a finale Sunday in Clemson. This weekend series is not only important for rivalry purposes, but also begins a stretch where 15 of 21 games for Clemson will come against 2010 NCAA tournament teams.
Clemson will play 8 non-conference midweek games over the course of the season. Those opponents are Coastal Carolina, Davidson, Furman, Georgia, PC, and Western Carolina once, while facing Elon twice.
The ACC tournament will be held in NC at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park from May 25-29. The top 8 teams from the conference are invited to participate.
