Yeah, I went there on the headline. I couldn’t resist. The way the Braves played last night they deserve a corny headline.
The Braves didn’t get off to the kind of start they had hoped for in Houston last night. They dropped a sloppy 10-4 decision to the Astros. Atlanta committed three errors, including one that lead to a four run single for the Houston. The Astros scored six runs in the seventh to make it a laugher.
On of the bright notes for Atlanta included Jason Heyward’s 12th home run of the season. It was his first home run since June 17th. Heyward was also celebrating his 21st birthday last night.
Brian McCann also homered in a losing cause for the Braves last night.
So, with last night’s loss the idle Phillies are pulled to within a 1 ½ of first place in the N.L. East race. The Phillies open a home series with the Dodgers tonight.
The Braves and Astros play again tonight in Houston. Jair Jurrjens will be on the mound for Atlanta. First pitch is 8:05.
