USC linebacker Eric Norwood has been selected as a first team All-SEC selection by the Associated Press. He was a unanimous pick. Norwood is the Gamecocks all time leader in sacks and tackles for a loss. He’s only the second player in school history to make AP first team all-conference two years in a row. Kalimba Edwards is the other.
Gamecock safety Chris Culliver made the second team and defensive end Cliff Matthews was honorable mention. No offensive players were honored.
Alabama’s Mark Ingram is the offensive player of the year, Crimson Tide linebacker Rolando McClain is the defensive player of the year and Tide coach Nic Saban is the coach of the year. Vanderbilt’s Warren Norman is the Freshman of the year.
