There is an interesting blog post today on THE AVENUE OF CHAMPIONS. Until today I had never heard of this blog but there is some interesting comments in today’s post about the problems with Clemson’s offense and a possible feud between Dabo Swinney and Tiger offensive coordinator Billy Napier.
Again, I don’t usually put a lot of stock in blogs that I’ve never heard of and one that I don’t know who the blog host is or what his or her agenda may be. However, I have confirmed that there was apparently some sort of public disagreement between Swinney and Napier at practice last week. The question now is the extent of the argument and if there are any lingering issues between the two.
Also, still in question is the allegation the blog post makes that Swinney is changing 15-25 of Napier’s plays every game. According to the post, Napier is often unaware that the play has even been changed until he sees it executed. Furthermore, the blog states that when he changes the plays Swinney often neglects to signal in the right personnel and blocking assignments. Allegedly this breakdown in communication has led to confusion with the players and ultimately some busted plays in key situations.
Is it true or just an angry blogger grasping at straws?
Swinney will hold his weekly news conference tomorrow. We will be there. It should be interesting.
