A lot has been made lately of the fake field goal that Georgia Tech ran to score a touchdown against Clemson last week. Apparently the league has determined that was not a legal play. As we all know, coaches have to be very careful about what they say in regards to officiating and calls that go against their team. But it is pretty easy to read between the lines when Dabo talked about that particular play. You will also hear Dabo try to explain the trick formation he used (which was also deemed illegal by the league) against Georgia Tech. Gamecock fans will also remember this formation because Swinney used it against them and Jacoby Ford scored a touchdown on the play.

Swinney also wasn’t happy about the late holding call against Thomas Austin that negated a first down and a scoring opportunity that could have sealed the game. Ironically it was Austin that was flagged for a questionable holding call late in the Tech game last season.

To Swinney’s credit he did not blame the loss on the officials and said it is up to his team to overcome tough calls and find a way to win. But he clearly wanted to make sure his point was heard by the members of the media and probably more importantly the league office.
