Another weekend of college baseball is in the books. Clemson might be the hottest team in the country. Not much is slowing the Tigers down these days. Virginia Tech certainly didn’t. Meanwhile, USC had some tough luck against Vanderbilt, but the Gamecocks did take the final game of the series. Those recaps and more are below the fold.
Clemson’s ACC domination continues
There might not be a more confident team in the country than Clemson. The Tigers polished off Virginia Tech 8-3 Sunday and put the bow on a three game sweep against the Hokies. Monte Lee’s squad is now 13-2 in the ACC and 28-5 overall. Next up for them is a home game with Charleston Southern on Tuesday.

Gamecocks salvage one against Vandy
Vanderbilt gave USC all sorts of fits in Columbia. The Commodores won by a run on Friday and then took an extra inning win on Friday to clinch the series. The Gamecocks bounced back to take the final game Saturday, 6-1. The Gamecocks are 7-5 in SEC play and 21-10 overall. Even though they lost the series Chad Holbrook said winning that final game was big going forward. The Gamecocks have a clash with rival and top 5 ranked North Carolina coming up Tuesday.

Coastal Carolina gets random split
Coastal Carolina was looking for a series win against UL Lafayette Sunday, but the game was called with the score tied at 7-7. The Ragin’ Cajuns had a plane to catch so the game was called for travel reasons, per league rules. The two teams split the other two games in the series. The defending College World Series champs are 20-11 and 8-3-1 in the Sun Belt.
Charleston rolling through CAA
The College of Charleston moved to 7-2 in conference play with a 12-11 win over James Madison Sunday. The Cougars won two of the three games in that series. They are 16-16 overall.
PC sweeps Winthrop
Presbyterian took three games from Winthrop and the Blue Hose are in 2nd place in the Big South Standings. PC won 3-1 over the Eagles in Rock Hill Sunday and they are 6-3 in conference play. After the sweep Winthrop dropped to 5-4 in Big South Play.
Rough weekend for Furman
Furman lost all three games of its Southern Conference series with UNC-Greensboro, capped by a 9-3 setback Sunday. The Paladins are now 1-8 in league play.
Wofford drops series to Keydets
Wofford dropped two of three to VMI, but the Terriers did take the Sunday game 13-3. They are 3-3 in the SoCon and have UNC Greensboro up next.
Charleston Southern has productive weekend
Charleston Southern lost to UNC-Asheville 2-1 Sunday, but the Bucs still won that series. A win Friday and Saturday gave them the series and has CSU sitting at 5-7 in the Big South. They are at Clemson Tuesday.
Upstate goes down in all three
USC Upstate was swept by Kennesaw State over the weekend. The series ended with a 9-2 setback Sunday. The Spartans are 1-5 in the Atlantic Sun.
