Did Clemson athletics director Dan Radakovich seriously consider firing basketball coach Brad Brownell after another non-NCAA Tournament season? If you listen closely to his comments from a sit down with some media Tuesday in his office, you can make that inference.
Radakovich had his annual sit-down with Brownell a few days after the season ended with a second day loss to Duke in the ACC Tournament. Radakovich said Tuesday that after that meeting “the decision was made to keep Brad.” Well, you can’t make a decision to do one thing unless you also were considering doing something us.
To their credit, the media on hand for this frank discussion pressed Radakovich on details of his decision to retain Brownell. One even questioned him on why Brownell could be kept based on his record and former baseball coach Jack Leggett could be fired two years ago based on his.
Take a listen to Radakovich’s opening comments followed by the questions. Warning: There’s a lot of contract and financial type mumbo-jumbo in the comments.
