I saw some familiar faces and saw how cool Coach Peterson is.” He said the pitch made by the Gamecock coaches was, “We need you. We will develop you.” Asked if anything has really changed with his commitment to Georgia, Beal replied, “Not really.” Beal said he will be talking with coaches from USC and Georgia over the next couple of days.
DE Aaron Sterling came out of his official visit to USC Sunday still undecided between USC and Tennessee. He said it’s a 50-50 deal between the two at this point. “The visit was awesome. I got to see more in detail everything. I got to talk to the players and get their opinion on everything. They keep listing me like Dominique Easley, come in and play that three technique, anything on the D-line. I like that. I still got to pray on it. Still thinking. Signing Day. I’m going to sit down with my mom and talk with my dad and get their opinion. It’s just that feeling, asking God which one is the best.” Sterling said Tennessee also gave him a good visit and he couldn’t say one visit was better than the other. There is a 10:00 AM signing ceremony set for his school Wednesday.
DE Devontae Davis (6-4 245) of Silver Bluff made his official visit to USC over the weekend. The Gamecocks are looking at him as a potential sign and place prospect unless his grades improve enough the rest of the school year to qualify. “It was a nice experience. They showed me the academic center and the whole campus. They are waiting to see where my grades fall at the end of this year and go from there. If I don’t qualify, they would like for me to go to junior college just as long as I come back here.” Davis said he’s also looking at Coastal Carolina. As for junior colleges, he’s looking at Georgia Military, Jones and Garden City. He’s not sure if he will sign on Wednesday. As far as fitting in, they really like those hybrid guys at tight end, like Jordan Leggett was, so they feel like I can be that type of guy once I develop my body and get stronger. They are definitely one of my top schools.” Mitchell also visited Clemson during the season. He also has offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, Vanderbilt and James Madison. He will go to Duke for a junior day in February and is also going to Tennessee.
OL Trey Hill (6-4 325) of Warner Robbins, GA attended Clemson’s junior day Saturday. He also visited Clemson last summer for a camp but this visit gave him a chance to see the new digs and get closer with the coaches. “Great to see the facilities and all that good stuff but most of all bonding with the coaches and getting a feel for the school and how the coaches coach,” Hill said. “Coach Caldwell is just a great guy on and off the field, a guy who can get linemen into the league and that’s something I’m looking forward to. Everything about Clemson is great.” Hill has nearly 30 offers at this point so he’s not sure where anyone fits. “The recruiting process is hectic right now. I haven’t visited that many schools.” He will go to Georgia and Florida State in February. USC also is one of his offers and he hopes to get there this spring or summer. And Hill said he did not grow up a fan of either Georgia or Georgia Tech.
