6-4 Clyde Trapp Jr. of Lower Richland will announce his college decision at his school Wednesday at 2:00 PM as part of a signing ceremony. Trapp is considering Clemson, USC, Charlotte, Rice and Georgia Tech He took official visits to all except Georgia Tech with the Clemson visit running last Thursday thru Saturday.
“It was a great visit,” Trapp said. “I enjoyed myself. My family loved it. Overall I think it was a great visit. I love the new Littlejohn. They have great facilities all around the board. The coaches welcomed my family with open arms and I felt good about that.”
Trapp got the chance to watch the Tigers play in their exhibition game Thursday night against Lander so he got a good feel about how his skills would mesh with what Brad Brownell likes to do.
“I see me playing anywhere from the one to the three and that’s how coach has recruited me,” Trapp said. “He was very intrigued with my versatility, that’s why he started recruiting me. I see me having a good chance to contribute as a freshmen at multiple positions.”
One fact Trapp clarified Monday night was he has had an offer from Clemson for a while. It was thought he did not have an offer going into his visit but he said the Tigers actually offered him a couple of weeks ago after getting to know him and his family and that’s when he issued a top five including Clemson.
Trapp said he’s not yet made his decision and all four schools continue to recruit him hard at this late point in the recruiting process.
“I’m hearing from all the coaches just reassuring me that I’m and priority and I’m a want,” he said. “All five schools that I’m choosing from, I can come in and make an impact and be able to play and it’s a great fit for me. The deciding factor is going to be where I felt the most comfortable and where my family felt the most comfortable.”
Trapp said he will let the schools he’s not choosing know of his decision in advance so he can thank them for recruiting him.
