Today’s a big day in college football circles. It’s the day the playoff committee issues its first ranking of the season. Clemson was #1 in all of last year’s rankings. The Tigers won’t debut that high tonight because of Alabama, but there is belief the Tigers could be #2.
Of course, the ranking will mean little for Clemson without a win over Syracuse Saturday afternoon in Death Valley, and the Tigers are favored by 27 points. But the Orange has opened eyes with wins over Virginia Tech and Boston College to get to 4-4 and 2-2 in the ACC under first year coach Dino Babers.
Dabo Swinney exhibited at his Tuesday press conference a severe case of tunnel vision. He astutely broke down the Orange offense and defense leaving out little detail.
If tonight’s CFP ranking disclosure were weighing on him, he showed no signs.
