6-7 Aamir Simms of Dyke, VA Thursday made public his intention to sign with Clemson in November. Simms became the third new player to commit to Brad Brownell’s program this recruiting cycle though technically AJ Oliver will be part of the 2016 class since he’s enrolling in January.
Simms made an official visit to Clemson earlier this month. That was his first official visit and he loved it. So much so, he decided not to take the others he had scheduled with VCU, Miami, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame.
“It feels amazing to be a part of the Tigers,” Simms said Friday. “The academics and the work ethic academically and athletically, the players have really had me in shock and I wanted to be a part of that. I see myself fitting in just fine and I know I fit their style of play.”
Simms also is excited for the chance to play his college basketball in the nation’s top league, the ACC.
“It’s been a dream of mine since the 7th grade,” he said. “I know I have the skill set to compete and I know Clemson will develop my game even more.”
Last season Simms averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds per game.
