According to Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 6-8 Robert Carter Jr., who is transferring from Georgia Tech, will pay a recruiting visit to USC Saturday.

Carvell cites Carter’s AAU coach Winfred Jordan as saying  Gamecock coach Frank Martin has a connection to Carter from when he coached him during the USA Team trials a few years ago.

Carter has visited St. Johns and will visit Maryland Monday and there has been speculation the Terps are the favorites.  One of Carter’s former high school and AAU teammates will be a freshman at Maryland this year.

Carter is one of the top transfers still available and one of two USC is actively pursuing at this point.  6-7 Danuel House Jr., a transfer from Houston, has visited USC, UCLA and Texas A&M.

Last season Carter averaged over 11 points and 8 rebounds per game.  He will have to sit out this season and will have two to play.
