Saturday afternoon in Myrtle Beach during halftime of the Touchstone Energy Bowl North-South Game, QB Jacob Park of Stratford was announced the winner of the 2013 Mr. Football Award in South Carolina. Park won the honor over four other finalists…QB Mason Rudolph of Northwestern, LB Christian Miller of Spring Valley (not in attendance due to surgery), OL Donell Stanley of Latta and RB Jae’lon Oglesby of Daniel.

Park led Stratford to the 4A-Division Two state championship game. This season he passed for 3680 yards and 34 touchdowns. He will play in the Shrine Bowl next weekend and will play his college football at Georgia.

Park is the 19th winner of the award which dates back to 1995. He’s the 7th quarterback to be chosen, the first since 2007.
