USC and Missouri will meet for the first time ever tonight in Columbia, MO.  Mizzou was expected to make an instant splash in this their first season in the SEC, but back-to-back losses against Ole Miss and Florida and word that the NCAA could be closing in on a hammer drop on Tigers coach Frank Haith have things a little dicey these days.

Despite the recent woes for Mizzou, Gamecocks coach Frank Martin still believes they are absolutely one of the best team’s in the SEC and the country.  He is very familiar with the Tigers from the days when he was at Kansas State and coaching against them in the Big 12.  Martin said he suspects the fans at Mizzou Arena will be ready for his return tonight.

The Gamecocks are 11-6 and 1-3 in the SEC. They are coming off a home loss to Vanderbilt.  They shot just 23 percent from the floor in that game and made only one fast break basket. After the game ended Martin questioned his team’s preparation  and said they didn’t have a personality.  We’ll see if they can develop one tonight in the Show Me State.

This game tips off at 7:00 tonight and will be televised on ESPNU.  Take a listen to Frank Martin’s preview below.
