USC coach Steve Spurrier and defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward wasted little time in filling the vacancy on the defensive staff created by the departure of defensive line coach Brad Lawing to Florida by hiring Deke Adams of North Carolina a source said Monday night.
Adams just completed his first season in Chapel Hill. He had been at Southern Miss with Larry Fedora where he coached along side current USC secondary coach Grady Brown.
Among his other coaching stops are Louisiana-Monroe and North Carolina A&T.
Adams played his college football at Southern Miss.
