DE Carl Lawson of Alpharetta, GA has set three official visits for the next three weekends his coach said today.  Lawson will visit Clemson this weekend, Tennessee the following weekend and North Carolina the next weekend.  He has been committed to Auburn.

WR Marquez North of Charlotte has scratched Clemson from his list. His father contacted Clemson recruiter Danny Pearman Thursday and told him of the decision. North will now focus on North Carolina and Tennessee. He was scheduled for an official visit to Clemson this weekend. “Marq said he didn’t want to go,” Ramando North said. “He said he wants to stay close to home. He felt Clemson was too deep at wide receiver. And he didn’t like how people were committing and decommiting.” North has taken an official visit to Tennessee and might go back Saturday for an unofficial visit. He is scheduled to visit North Carolina officially next weekend.

For the second time, academic issues are keeping DE Alfy Hill of Shallotte, NC from joining a SEC program. Hill’s former coach at West Brunswick High School said Thursday his fall semester grade report was not good enough for him to transfer to USC. “It’s basically his GPA,” Jimmy Fletcher said. Hill attended Los Angeles Valley JC last year but will take classes at a community college near his North Carolina home this semester. Fletcher said there was no reason for Hill to return to the JC because he could not improve his situation enough there to quality for a Division One scholarship. Fletcher confirmed that Hill plans to enroll at Division Two UNC-Pembroke in the fall. He did say USC recruiter Brad Lawing is still exploring what, if any, options remain for Hill and USC, so the door has not been totally closed. Hill signed with Alabama as a high school senior and actually enrolled there and took classes before the NCAA ruled him ineligible. He then enrolled briefly at East Carolina and then later a junior college in Mississippi before heading west.

USC commitment LB Mo Camara of Cumming, GA told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution he will visit Wake Forest January 25th.  That’s the weekend after his official visit to USC.

DL Deadrin Senat of Immokalee, FL has set his official visit with USC for the Gamecocks’ primary recruiting weekend of January 18th. Senat talked with his recruiter GA Mangus earlier this week and plans to contact him again Thursday. “I’m really interested,” he said. “I haven’t surprised them yet and told them that’s where I want to go. But I am very interested. I would commit on the visit if they are willing to take my commitment.” Senat, who once was committed to Florida State, said he’s also talking to Tennessee, Rutgers, Texas A&M and Ole Miss. Senat added that his teammate, All American DB Mackensie Alexander, might join him on the visit to USC though he said that’s not a definite. Senat said in his opinion, at this point, he thinks Alexander will choose Clemson.

DE Robert Nkemdiche of Grayson, GA has set his official visit date with Ole Miss for January 25th.  He has not yet set his visit date with LSU.  Nkemdiche’s teammate DB David Kamara will also visit Ole Miss on the 25th.

DE Jamar Winston of Dutch Fork remains committed to Charlotte and will visit there January 18th. He’s also picked up an offer from Howard,

Gaffney DE Jaylen Miller is set to begin his visits this weekend with a trip to Georgia Tech. He has visits scheduled to Wake Forest and Maryland the next two weekends, and might visit NC State the final weekend.

Byrnes WR Akia Booker has an offer from Louisiana-Lafayette. Rebels’ OL Isaiah Pinson committed to The Citadel. Byrnes DE Tyson Holcombe has offers from Central Missouri and North Greenville.

Byrnes junior QB Shuler Bentley has offers from Old Dominion and Delaware. He’s also hearing from USC, Penn State, Western Michigan, Charlotte and Eastern Kentucky. This season he passed for 4700 yards and 59 touchdowns.

Goose Creek LB Jalen Stevens has set three official visits. He will go to Georgia State this weekend, Appalachian State on the 18th and Arizona State on the 25th. He’s considering a visit to Southern Miss for the final weekend.

Clemson junior QB commitment DeShaun Watson of Gainesville, GA will visit Ohio State February 10th along with junior WR Demarre Kitt of Tyrone, GA.

Junior DE Jalyn Holmes of Norfolk, VA tweeted out his top seven as Clemson, Alabama, Virginia Tech, Florida, Maryland, Southern Cal and North Carolina.
