Former Byrnes head football coach Bobby Bentley will be officially named as the Rebels’ new head coach Wednesday a source said Tuesday night. Bentley will replace Chris Miller who took over as head coach at Spartanburg High School in mid-December.
Bentley has been the offensive coordinator and athletic director at Byrnes since 2009. He was the Rebels’ head coach from 1995 -2006 before leaving for a two year stint as head coach at Presbyterian College.
In his first go-around as head coach at Byrnes, Bentley won four straight 4A Division 2 state championships from 2002-2005. He was named the Nike national coach of the year in 2005 and the SC coach of the year in 2006.
