Fresh of a second consecutive 11 win season and the highest final ranking in school history, USC coach Steve Spurrier is already publicly stating a lofty goal for his team next season.  The Head Ball Coach issued a statement via the USC SID Tuesday:

“I’m very proud of our team and what we accomplished this season,” said head coach Steve Spurrier. “We are obviously thrilled to be ranked one spot better than we were last year and the highest in school history. Much of the credit goes to our seniors, especially the leadership provided by our captains – D.J. Swearinger, T.J. Johnson, Justice Cunningham and Shaq Wilson – which was instrumental in our success. We lose a lot of outstanding players but have a good nucleus returning for next season,” continued the Head Ball Coach. “Our goals will be just as high. Our No. 1 goal is to win the SEC Championship and we’ll try to accomplish that next season.

I am very encouraged about the 2013-2014 USC football season. With the return of Ace Sanders, along with a very strong quarterback core, the Gamecocks could contend for an SEC championship!!!

  2. USC will never win the SEC under the oold ball coach. Spurrier doesn’t care about USC he just cares about himself

  3. Danny Wilson says:

Very good season, again close but no cigar. To get to the champioship, and win it, Spurrier has got to start signing alot more 4 star players and maybe a few 5 stars. He;s doing great with what he brings in, but we need the depth and the difference makers to take us to the next level. Forever To Thee!

  4. Old Gamecock says:

some LBs – any LBs – would be nice – the D will have to grow up fast in time for GA – and if they lose to Clemson before they play us that won’t help things a bit – two big sets of shoes to fill on the DL – and I mean big! – the OL should be better but TJ was the rock for so long he will also be hard to replace – and a starting QB that can throw downfield consistently – oops, did I write that out loud?

  5. Jeez Chris.dont be so whiney about SOS just because he has slobberknocked your weak and poorly coached a-she-she tiggers 4 YEARS IN A ROW. .Just because Spurrier doesn’t let his palyers beat and throw their girlfriends down stairs like Dimbo, doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about his team or USC.You are an idiot
