Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones announced today he’s skipping his final season in Athens to jump to the NFL. Jones is expected to be a top five pick in the April draft. He joins Alec Ogletree as the second Georgia defensive player to announce for the draft this week. Ogletree informed reporters he was bolting shortly after the Capital One Bowl win over Nebraska Tuesday.
The Bulldogs are still waiting on word from quarterback Aaron Murray’s decision. If Murray decides to return Georgia will probably be the pick to win the SEC East next season. If he doesn’t, the Bulldogs could be picked as low as third in the East behind USC and Florida.
USC and Clemson fans will be monitoring Murray’s decision closely. The Bulldogs open next season in Death Valley against the Tigers. In week two they play the Gamecocks in Athens.
Macon Telegraph Georgia beat writer Seth Emerson joined us on SportsTalk First Edition Friday afternoon to break down the Bulldogs draft prospects and how the team looks heading into the offseason. You can take a listen to the interview below.
