USC went through one last full practice Sunday, and now for intents and purposes its preparation for Tuesday’s Outback Bowl matchup with Michigan is complete. Following the workout at Jefferson High School Gamecocks defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward spoke to reporters to share his final thoughts on preparing to stop the Wolverines offense.
“I think the guys have been focused,” said Ward. “We’ve had good practices back in Columbia and good practices since we’ve been here. I thought the guys were really focused today. We try to show them just about everything (Michigan has) done all season, so we don’t know what we’re going to get but by the time game time, hopefully after the first 15-20 plays we’ll know what they’re doing.”
Ward expects to be at full strength come game time. He commented that all of his players are healthy and confident as game day approaches. “All the guys that have been banged up are well,” he said. “It looks like we’re playing real fast.”
USC will go through a short walk-through at Raymond James Stadium tomorrow. The Outback Bowl kicks off at 1:00 on New Year’s Day.
