USC football coach Steve Spurrier was in Spartanburg Friday to speak at the annual Shrine Bowl luncheon. Spurrier was on the dais along with David Cutcliffe of Duke, Jim Grobe of Wake Forest, Dave Doeren of NC State and Bruce Fowler of Furman.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney did not speak at the luncheon because he will be the guest speaker tonight at the Shrine Bowl banquet in Spartanburg.
Following his brief remarks, Spurrier talked to SportsTalkSC.com about the start of bowl practice Saturday.
“We’re going to meet up with our guys today and actually watch the Clemson tape. We haven’t watched it since the ball game. Then we will practice a little bit tomorrow and start getting ready for Michigan. We may have one or two (players) who fell by the wayside for team rules and this, that and the other. We will let you guys search that out and find out who they are.”
