USC running back Marcus Lattimore is expected to announce he’s turning pro in the next few days. Lattimore is recovering from his second major knee surgery in as many seasons. Steve Spurrier told a couple of reporters today that Lattimore is still weighing his options and hasn’t reached a final decision. However, as we reported here earlier, there have been strong indications Lattimore is all but certain to forego his final season of college and test the NFL waters.
Gamecocks assistant coach Steve Spurrier Jr. joined us on SportsTalk Friday night and hedidn’t predict what he thought Lattimore would or should do, but his words sure sounded like something a coach would say about a player he won’t be coaching much longer.
“The surgery went well, he’s going to play again,” Spurrier Jr. said. “He’s strong, he’s confident, he feels good, and we’re blessed to have had him and we’ll wish him the best whatever he chooses to do.”
