The Miami Hurricanes made it to the second round of the NIT in head coach Jim Larranaga’s first season a year ago, but are expected to take the next step to the NCAA Tournament in 2013.  The ‘Canes finished 20-13 last season with a 9-7 record in conference (tied for 4th place), marking the first time Miami has been over .500 in ACC play.

Miami returns four starters to a team picked to finish 5th in the ACC, headlined by seniors Durand Scott and Reggie Johnson and sophomore point guard Shane Larkin (son of MLB Hall of Famer Barry Larkin), who is currently leading the team averaging 16.8 ponts and 5 assists per game.

The ‘Canes are 4-1 so far this season, suffering their lone defeat to Florida Gulf Coast, but upset #13 Michigan State on Wednesday in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.  Their next game is this Saturday on the road against UMass.
