USC junior guard Brenton Williams was taken to the hospital after taking a hard shot after a tumble to the floor in the second half of Thursday night’s loss at St. John’s. The game was delayed for several minutes and Williams was taken off on a stretcher, but the good news is he was able to move his arms and legs and it looks like he won’t have to stay over night in New York.
South Carolina junior guard Brenton Williams, who sustained a neck injury in Thursday night’s contest versus St. John’s and was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, has been released from the hospital and will return to Columbia with the team.
Williams had 10 points when he went down with the injury. The Red Storm were already in control, but pulled away for a blowout win after he left the game.
The Gamecocks will play host to Clemson Sunday afternoon. Williams’ status for that game is unknown at this time.
