SCHSL Class 2A-Division I state championship preview (AUDIO)

The first matchup of state championship weekend has the Dillon Wildcats taking on Fairfield Central, which will be held at 5:30 Friday night at Benedict College in the Class 2A-Division II bracket.  Dillon is looking to win their first state title since winning back-to-back championships in 2008-2009,while the Fairfield Central Griffins are looking to win their first title since winning the Class 3A state championship in 1997.

The Griffins, led by head coach Demetrius Davis, started the season 2-2, but finished the regular season with an 8-2 record and are riding a nine game winning streak.  Fairfield Central has defeated Crescent, Cheraw, and Newberry on their way to the championship game by a combined score of 105-31.

Jackie Hayes

Dillon is led by head coach Jackie Hayes, and boast a 10-1 regular season record.  The Wildcats have defeated Lake Marion, Loris, and Timberland so far this postseason by a combined score of 126-20.
