Dabo Swinney said he would be in favor of an early signing period in college football. Swinney said it is “ridiculous” players have to wait until February to sign. Swinney suggested giving players the option to sign in mid-September so coaches and prospects can get the process behind them.
Swinney has been outspoken about his policy of not considering a prospect “committed” if he is still taking visits to other schools. He has backed off of players in the past because they decided to visit other schools after committing to the Tigers.
This week Swinney lost a commitment from the nation’s top prospect. Robert Nkemdiche, who had been committed to the Tigers since the summer, backed away from that pledge Sunday.
