USC shorthanded in today’s season opener

Martin missing two players to start season

USC basketball coach Frank Martin announced prior to Sunday’s season opener with Wisconsin-Milwaukee that two of his players will not be suiting up.

Freshman forward Laimonas Chatkevicius will miss the first six games of the season because he received impermissible benefits from his host family prior to enrolling at USC.  Chatkevicius is from Lithuania and attend high school in Kansas.

Martin also announced walk on guard Brian Steele had been suspended “per athletic department policy.”
