Coaches poll: Clemson moves up, idle USC drops

Tajh Boyd and the Tigers move up in latest AP ranking

Clemson’s 56-20 win at Duke Saturday night has moved them up a few spots in the latest USA Today Coaches poll. The Tigers are eight in the new ranking released Sunday. The win over Duke moved Clemson to 8-1. That is the final road game of the regular season for the Tigers as well. They return home to play a struggling Maryland team next weekend and close out the ACC slate at home against N.C. State the following week. They will end the regular season with rival South Carolina in Death Valley.

Speaking of the Gamecocks, they didn’t play this weekend but they still ended up losing one slot in the new poll. The dropped to 12th in this week’s ranking. USC is 7-2 and is at home Saturday against Arkansas. The Razorbacks squeaked out a home win over Tulsa Saturday.

Undefeated Alabama continues to hold the top spot in the poll. Oregon, Kansas State, Notre Dame and Georgia round out the top five.
